I am writing to you in support of Dr. Stephen Courtney. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Courtney about 2.5 years ago when a friend had surgery with Dr. Courtney. Then, a couple of months later, in late 2014, I found myself needing his medical expertise! Since my surgery, he has also performed an even more involved surgery on another close friend. All three of us were very pleased with the end result of our surgeries and the care we received from Dr. Courtney.
I interviewed several doctors prior to choosing Dr. Courtney. Once I met with him to review my medical situation, there was no doubt in my mind that he was the correct choice. His office staff was amazing but my time with him was over the top. He spent a long time explaining my situation and showing me on the x-rays and CT Scan. He answered all of my questions completely. I was terrified to have surgery on my neck. He was so wonderful to put my fears at ease. The whole process was seamless and his office took care of everything. He explained all about the procedure, the equipment he was using and what results he expected to at the end of the surgery. He told me that he had his own line of equipment and that he would like to use it. He never once made me feel like it was a requirement to use his products. He assured me that I had a choice. He explained everything thoroughly to me, including the positive outcome and possible complications of my procedure. After studying the options, there was no question that his product was exactly what I wanted him to use.
I am now 2.5 years post-op from my cervical fusion of C4, C5, C6. I have not had any problems since I came out of surgery. In fact, all of my pain was gone when I woke up. Dr. Courtney has been there for me whenever I have had any questions even since my surgery. I am so grateful for his expertise and skill to fix my issue and relieve my unbearable pain. I followed his post-op recommendations which included several restrictions as well as physical therapy recommendations. I have not had any post-operative problems. In fact, my neck feels better than ever!
I would also like to add, that my life partner was injured and had 2 compression fractures of T5 & T7. She contacted Dr. Courtney’s office. She was not in Dallas and was concerned about the suggested procedure the local doctor suggested. Dr. Courtney took the time to review her x-rays and CT Scan. He gave her his professional opinion which supported the other doctor’s recommendation and was so good to explain everything to her. We were so grateful for his help.
In my personal opinion, I believe that Dr. Courtney was the best choice for me. His expertise and professionalism are above and beyond the other doctors that I was considering. I have referred many people to Dr. Courtney since my surgery and will continue to do so. I have 100% confidence in his skill and his professionalism. If I ever need any other cervical or spinal surgery, I will not hesitate to call upon Dr. Courtney.
In summary, I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Courtney! He is professional and very skilled in his area of specialty. His surgical skills and knowledge saved me from having any permanent damage.
